A fading celebrity takes a black market drug – a cell-replicating substance that temporarily creates a better, younger version of herself. There’s nothing scarier than being human and these films explore in detail the inhuman ways our bodies can betray us. From chilling to edgy, here are five body horror movies you may have missed. Ray Liotta had been cast in the 2022 film in February, but died in May of that year before he could film his scenes. He was replaced by Dennis Quaid, but Liotta is still mentioned in the director’s “Acknowledgements”; during the credits. The bathroom mirror reappears unscathed after being repeatedly smashed in the fight.
I’ll start with the positive
Special thanks in the credits to the many extras on the theatre stage who were covered in blood. Featured in The 7PM Project: 2024 September 20 series (2024). Pump It Up Written by Michael Hall, Leonardo Stella Starring Earl Gregory Produced by Julien Deguines. There are a LOT of them. Casting? Perfect.
Pretty much flawless
Acting? All the performances drew me in and added so much to the story. The idea was phenomenal and very interesting. Really a great idea for a movie. The cinematography was unique and very good. The result also heightened the tension tremendously.
Side notes: enough with the butt shots
The first 2 thirds of the movie did all of these things before TS. Why 6 stars? THE END. It took the believable and suspenseful aspects of the story and threw them out the window to satisfy director Cronenberg’s imagination and desire to maximize the special effects budget. It turned out to be a complete mess, almost like they had no idea what to do with the ending or no desire to make it interesting. A movie that had so much going on and I walked out of the theater disappointed.
Lazy to add loud sounds to almost every scene
